The world is changing. Out of the blue, conflicts and polarization arise between us. Beliefs and values that have been constant are turned upside down. In the drama, we lose touch with the people who are most important to us. We want to help them, but it has become difficult to reach them. Sometimes it feels almost impossible.

Whatever I say, they don’t listen to me and we just end up arguing. What am I doing wrong?

I think some of my friends have started to reason so strangely. I don’t really recognize them anymore. What happened?

Why doesn’t everyone notice that something is not right?

What do I do if they don’t listen to facts or logic?

If you recognize yourself in any of these questions, this material is for you. The knowledge series Reaching others helps us have open conversations and see a larger perspective.

The methods and ideas presented have proven effective in many different contexts; by police officers dealing with people in crisis, in military intelligence gathering, by therapists helping people with drug problems, by exit counsellors helping those trapped in destructive cults, by authorities wanting to influence the behaviour of residents, and by advertisers.

The methods are based on knowledge in psychology, behavioural science, neuroscience and marketing. We have developed material that is set at a reasonable level of understanding for the common man to be able to have successful conversations.

When we practice, we get better. Much like when we learned to drive a car. This text is like the driving instruction manual. It has a lot of useful information, but it is when we go out into traffic among people and test our skills to reach others that we become good at it.

You can study the material on your own or together with others. We want as many people as possible to have the chance to develop their ability to reach others and you are welcome to share this material. We also arrange meetings where we immerse ourselves in the material and can share our experiences.

The material has been developed by Us together in collaboration with Reaching People.
